Rising Freon® Costs Creates Concerns
Southeastern, WI – Holland’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning® is very concerned about the recent mandate made by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) causing the price of R-22 Refrigerant (Freon®) to spike to an all time, industry high. Due to this dramatic change, industry experts anticipate the consumer’s cost to maintain an older air conditioning system to nearly triple this year.
Though many homeowners in southeastern Wisconsin aren’t thinking about summer and the status of their air conditioners right now, HVAC contractors across the country are dealing with a case of supply and demand with the skyrocketing prices and potential limited levels of R-22 Refrigerant in the very near future. Most air conditioners five to ten years or older utilize R-22 Refrigerant.
“The recent astronomical price increase resulting from the changes to the EPA phase out of R-22 Refrigerant has HVAC contractors and suppliers nationwide in a state of frenzy, shared Holland’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning® owner, Steve Holland. “This dramatic of an increase is just a shock to the industry as a whole and unfortunately may lead to a potential wave of criminal activity due to its anticipated scarcity, stated Holland.”
Fortunately, Holland’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning® has a plan in place for safeguarding their customers’ refrigerant with a special lock mechanism. The new mechanism can prevent leaks and protect against theft of your systems refrigerant.

“I think everyone’s worried. The R-22 market which is trademarked Freon® is going to be scarce. There are shortages predicted and very, very high prices. If we have a hot summer, everyone will be affected,” states Steve Holland. (:18)

Air Conditioning Battles Hot Weather

AIR CONDITIONING BATTLES
Your air conditioning is either working or it’s not and on a week like this in the Milwaukee area with Excessive Heat Warnings, you had better hope yours is in good operating condition. Unfortunately for many area homeowners, their air conditioning systems have not been able to keep up the pace with the high temperatures and humidity. Holland Home Services/Holland’s Heating and Air Conditioning service technicians have been working around the clock making air conditioning system repairs as well as performing air conditioner maintenance tune-ups. Our primary focus is on keeping our customers cool and safe no matter what time of day.
“We have had many calls early in the morning from distressed customers because they had another sleepless night dealing with the heat or when they return home from work and their air conditioning has failed at some point during the day,” stated Holland Home Services/Holland’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning owner, Steve Holland. “Regardless of the time of day, the stifling heat is not only uncomfortable, it can be extremely dangerous,” said Holland. Keeping cool is especially important for the elderly population. “If you know of an elderly person without air conditioning please check in with them regularly to make sure they are comfortable.” A few easy steps to keeping cool is to keep the shades or blinds on the windows closed, use fans to keep air circulating, consume water regularly and limit outside activity.
A regularly maintained air conditioning system has a much better chance of operating efficiently and keeping your home cool throughout the entire summer season. Due to the unseasonable cooler weather our area experienced in the beginning of June homeowners may have put off their yearly maintenance tune-up because they didn’t necessarily rely on their air conditioning as much as they have to now.
Holland Home Services/Holland’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning has been servicing the Milwaukee area, Waukesha County, Ozaukee and Washington Counties for over 14 years.

Heat Wave Grips the Area and Air Conditioning System Service Calls Climb
When the temperatures climb, the phones start to ring, that is if you are an air conditioning service company such as local HVAC company, Holland Home Services/Holland’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning. “A homeowners’ natural instinct is to turn on the central air when the weather starts to heat up,” explains Milwaukee area Holland Home Services owner, Steve Holland. “All too often though something fails, and their air conditioning doesn’t bring the relief they were looking for.” Being in the HVAC business requires the local company’s staff of 20 plus to forecast the weather to be prepared for the increase in calls and workload.
“Last week before it got hot, we were alerting our staff to get extra rest because we knew this heat wave would surely result in another brutal work week with long hours,” explains Holland. “While our technicians do work every day, at any hour, more often than not, many homeowners may not realize help is available and unnecessarily suffer through the weekend.” “This means our Monday and Tuesday mornings are generally very, very busy meeting the needs of customers whose air conditioning systems aren’t working properly,” according to Steve. The air conditioning system is often taken for granted and missed a great deal when the comfort of cool air is not there on a hot 90-plus degree day.
“It is important to have your system tuned-up annually to insure proper working order,” states, Steve. This is especially important for the elderly population. “If you know of an elderly person without air conditioning please check in with them regularly to make sure they are comfortable.” A few easy steps to keep the home cool is to keep the shades or blinds on the windows closed, use fans to keep air circulating, use electrical appliances such as stoves, dishwashers and dryers early or late in the day.
