Did you know the way you use furnace or air conditioner could help you lose weight? What about when you drink a glass of water? Here are a few quick tips that you might not know about that can contribute to chipping a few excess pounds off your frame.
Use your heating and air conditioning equipment to your advantage. There are studies that suggest that people tend to have a smaller appetite when the air temperature is warmer. There is also evidence that keeping your home warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter can help you to burn extra calories (not to mention save you some money on your energy bill). By keeping the temperature slightly cooler and warmer with the seasons you force your body to regulate its own temperature causing you to burn more calories.
Drink a glass of water before eating. Have you ever ate a bunch of food and waited to drink your beverage until after? If you did this, chances are you felt ridiculously full and bloated. This is because the beverage saturated all that food in your stomach and forced it to expand. You can eliminate this by drinking a glass of water before you eat to better gauge your appetite and keep you from overeating. Speaking of which . . .
Overeating at a meal is a surefire way to pack on pounds. Try to eat small meals throughout the day. A lot of people don’t have time to stick to three square meals a day, and that’s not a bad thing. If you can, try to get 5-7 small meals in throughout the day. This is actually better for you than eating three large meals, because it is much harder for your body to metabolize large quantities of food and it ends up storing more of that food as fat.
The morning sets up your entire day. The morning is when that ever important but often skipped meal called breakfast should take place. It is also the time when you can get your small meals ready for your day. This doesn’t have to take long. Just fill a lunch box or paper bag with convenient and natural, yet filling snacks. Good choices include apples, almonds, walnuts, bananas, and carrots, but pick anything healthy that you know you’ll stick with.
Watch the liquid calories. We all know soda is bad for you, but anything liquid that’s filled with fat or sugar can fill out your waistline without filling up your tum-tum. Cappuccinos filled with syrups and creams, alcoholic beverages, and sodas can taste delicious without giving you a second thought of the calories you’re downing. Keep an eye on your drinks as these can be sneaky way of packing on pounds. Whenever possible try to drink water or find low calorie alternatives to your regular drink choices.
Get your sleepy time. Losing weight can’t be much easier than sleeping. Sleep can help you burn more calories not only while sleeping, but also during the waking hours. Again, your furnace and air conditioner can come in handy here. Cooler air can help guide your body into a more relaxing, deep sleep.
