Give Yourself a Natural Energy Boost
Fatigue and lack of energy is something we have all dealt with at one time or another. It can keep you from performing your best in your day to day activities and can put you in a bad mood. Here are some easy tips on how to naturally keep your energy levels consistent throughout the day.
Hydration - Lack of water is one of the leading causes of feeling not only tired, but it is also responsible for a long list of other functions in the body. Drinking more water can improve concentration, reduce muscle soreness, lubricate joints, and too much more to list in this article. Stay away from sugary drinks and drinks with caffeine, they can cause big swings in energy levels and mood.
Sleep - You’re tired all day and you haven’t been getting much sleep? It seems pretty obvious what your problem is. Getting enough sleep is one of the best ways to naturally give you a boost of consistent energy through the day, as well as improving concentration. Aim for eight hours, six at minimum.
Eating Habits – Pay attention to what, when, and how much with your eating habits. Try to include healthy whole foods such as oatmeal, green vegetable, eggs, figs, bananas, yogurt, nuts and apples for a natural energy improvement. Also try to eat several small meals throughout the day, rather than a few large ones. This will allow your body to better metabolize your food and use it for energy.
Exercise – Did you know exercise can help increase your energy levels better than a cup of coffee? Not to mention it is healthier for you. Any little bit can help, but aim for at least 30 minutes 3-5 times a week. If you’re short on time try getting in a quick run or walk, or some pushups while watching TV.
Herbs, Vitamins and Minerals – Herbs such as ginseng, gingko biloba, licorice root, and green tea can increase energy. Bee pollen is also considered to be a superfood rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids which can give you jump start. A multivitamin supplement can also work wonders – many vitamins and minerals are essential to converting food into energy.
Deep Breathing – Taking time to take some deep breaths will get more oxygen into your body, which is vital to energy production - the cleaner the air the better.
